This non-descript takeaway place is easy to miss if you walk by it. It's a shabby little shop about 8 minutes away from Caledonian Road which I found out only because I used to live right next door.

BUT the food is amazing. There's nothing fancy about the food. It's simple, straightforward and the flavours are authentic. And the best part is that it's dirt cheap. You get curries for £4 and naans for £1.50 and I'll have these any day over the mostly subpar Indian dishes you get on Brick Lane. If you can handle spice, I would recommend the chicken or lamb madras.

Everyone I know who has tried Hillmarton is a convert, so next time you fancy some takeaway, give them a ring. I think they only deliver within the area so ...move if you aren't in the vicinity...jk.

Well, I was quite hopeful reading reviews on google and yelp. But honestly the place was completely different from what people had written here. I ordered a thali that had saag paneer, chana masala , daal tadka, mix veg, naan, raita, poppadum and rice . The quantity was very good but taste was not at all authentic indian more everything except daal tadka. Mix veg was average and at least fresh . Saag paneer was almost like a desert and chana masala - I couldn't even bear the sight of it. It was red (colored red) with no taste . The naan was not fresh made (store bought). I am an indian and well traveled , I know my tastes well. This was anything but indian . Guess it gains its reputation because of the Brit clientele . Anyways, definitely not returning here.

Chicken Rogan?  Until I arrived in London's Islington area I've never heard of the dish from my previous foray with Indian cuisine.  The description explained the dish to be made with tomatoes, gingers and spices...so I gave it a try.  A more subtle taste and palate than the typical curried spiced dishes from the Northern dishes I'm familiar with, the dish was refreshingly scrumptious and a great late night dinner that didn't feel heavy on the stomach.  Even more lovely was the tender chicken (breast) morsels...served in a generous portions.  Yum.  Only a couple nights left in London but it might not be my last visit for another quick bite.
